# Can: Milner’s experience key for Reds

Liverpool midfielder Emre Can has spoken about his new team mate James Milner, and says that it is obvious that he is a top player.

The German told the club’s official magazine: “I haven’t had too much experience of playing alongside him just yet but it is clear that he is a fighter, is very experienced and is capable of playing good football.”

Can, who has recently been called into the Germany squad by manager Joachim Löw, says that having someone with Milner’s experience is a great help to the younger players in the Liverpool squad; himself included.

He added: “I have already seen that he passes on what he knows to the younger players. He talks to us a lot and that can only help us.

“We have a good mix in the Liverpool team. We have got experienced players but also young players.

> The experienced players need to pass on their knowledge to the young members of the squad so with Stevie \[Gerrard\] leaving at the end of last season it is definitely good to have another experienced player like James Milner here.

Milner, who arrived from Manchester City has a wealth of experience at the top level.

He made his debut for Leeds United in 2002 aged 16; and bar a small loan spell with Swindon Town, he’s spent his entire career in the Premier League, so he is the perfect man to pass on advice to his younger team mates.

Liverpool have lost a number of key experienced players in the recent past.

Jamie Carragher retired, Luis Suarez left for Barcelona and club captain Steven Gerrard decided to spend the final years of his career with the LA Galaxy in MLS, so Milner’s knowledge will be welcomed by Brendan Rodgers.
