# Carragher has doubts over Klopp staying at Liverpool beyond 2024

Jamie Carragher admits he remains unsure of Jurgen Klopp extending his stay at Liverpool beyond 2024.

The German has done a magnificent job at Anfield since arriving in October 2015, slowly building his side into one of the most formidable in Europe.

Klopp has won both the Champions League and Premier League as Liverpool manager, instantly making him a club legend for the rest of time, especially after winning the latter.

The 53-year-old’s current deal [expires in 2024](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jurgen-klopp/profil/trainer/118), but it is currently unknown whether or not he will stay on beyond that.

Speaking to the *[Liverpool Echo](https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/exclusive-jamie-carragher-details-liverpools-19102265)*, Carragher claimed he could see Klopp walking away in four years’ time:

> I am not quite sure he will stay at the end of his current contract.

In truth, I don’t even believe Klopp knows what his decision will be yet, considering the length of time that still exists on his current deal.

He strikes me as a manager who will know when it is time to go, however, rather than outstay his welcome.

Rather than risk drifting past his very best, and possibly damaging his legacy like Arsene Wenger arguably did at Arsenal, he will bow out if he feels there is nothing left to offer.

I’m sure that the majority of Liverpool fans will be desperate that Klopp stays on for as long as possible, though – he is the most important thing to happen to Liverpool in decades, revitalising the club completely and uniting the team and the supporters.
