# Carragher tips Trent to scoop two end-of-season awards

Jamie Carragher has tipped Trent Alexander-Arnold to win both the PFA Player of the Year and PFA Young Player of the Year awards this season.

The 21-year-old has enjoyed a meteoric rise in recent years, going from academy hopeful to [one of the best](https://www.fourfourtwo.com/gallery/ranked-10-best-right-backs-world) right-backs in the world.

The quality that Alexander-Arnold possesses on the ball is outrageous, and given his tender years, he could go on to become an even more formidable player.

Alexander-Arnold’s class was on show on Wednesday night, as Liverpool crashed out of the Champions League at the hands of Atletico Madrid.

Despite the eventual 3-2 loss, the youngster was superb at Anfield, firing long-range passes, threading balls into dangerous positions and generally catching the eye throughout.

Someone who was hugely impressed with Alexander-Arnold was Reds legend Carragher, who claimed on [Twitter](https://twitter.com/Carra23/status/1237878823225405441?s=20) that the defender should scoop two end-of-season prizes, such has been his brilliance this season:

> Brilliant performance 💩 result! [@trentaa98](https://twitter.com/trentaa98?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw) outstanding again, PFA young player & player of the year 👀[@ChampionsLeague](https://twitter.com/ChampionsLeague?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw) do [@LFC](https://twitter.com/LFC?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw) stop being European Champions tonight or on the 30th may 🤷‍♂️😏 [#LIVATM](https://twitter.com/hashtag/LIVATM?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw)

It is far from a ridiculous shout, and [while the likes of](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-8024695/Sportsmails-reporters-decide-winners-PFA-Awards-Liverpool-whitewash.html) Sadio Mane, Jordan Henderson or Kevin De Bruyne might be the front-runners for the main award, it would be a huge surprise if he didn’t take home the Young Player of the Year gong.
