# Chelsea and Man United considered strong candidates to sign Werner

Chelsea and Manchester United are both strong candidates to sign Timo Werner this summer, according to [Sport1](https://www.sport1.de/fussball/bundesliga/2020/03/havertz-werner-und-co-drohen-diese-mega-deals-zu-platzen).

The two Premier League clubs are set to rival Liverpool in moving for the RB Leipzig striker.

The Reds have been continually [linked](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2020/03/04/werner-really-wants-liverpool-move/) with Werner this season, with the German scoring [27 goals](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/130903/Show/Timo-Werner) in all competitions.

The striker has been a huge success throughout his time in the Bundesliga, [breaking goal-scoring and appearance records](https://www.bundesliga.com/en/news/Bundesliga/timo-werner-rb-leipzig-dynamic-record-breaker-blmd32n-443595.jsp) during his rise to the top.

### Read Liverpool Verdict

Although it would be ideal for Liverpool to have an easy path to sign Werner, I still don’t think they should be overly concerned by Chelsea and United’s interest.

The 24-year-old has [flirted](https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/timo-werner-liverpool-transfer-news-best-in-world-a4366671.html) with the Reds in recent weeks, and there are so many things working in their favour over their rivals.

For starters, the guarantee of Champions League football is a big positive, while the lure of playing under Jurgen Klopp may also be great, given his reputation as arguably the [world’s best manager](https://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/klopp-is-the-best-coach-in-the-world-right-now-adrian/o9qbe9iqocs51ky1jea15i5ay) currently. Chelsea are currently fourth, but with the season currently suspended, it remains unclear how the table may finish.

Werner could also feel that there is a greater opportunity to win silverware at Anfield, as Klopp’s men lie on the verge of both Champions League and Premier League glory in the space of around a year.

Granted, the striker might be more of a regular starter at Chelsea and United, but I still think he would be considered a key man at Liverpool if he made the move, dovetailing with the likes of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino.
