# Chirivella wants Liverpool exit this summer

Pedro Chirivella wants to leave Liverpool at the end of the season, according to *[La Razon](https://www.larazon.es/deportes/20200309/v2cxxicktfhi5c6iwrvlsbblqe.html)*.

The Spaniard has enjoyed arguably his best season yet for the Reds, making [six appearances](https://www.lfchistory.net/Players/Player/GamesPerSeason/1291-129) and [shining](https://www.thisisanfield.com/2020/01/pedro-chirivellas-merseyside-derby-display-was-symbolic-of-liverpools-team-first-culture/) in the domestic cup competitions.

Despite this, Chirivella is seemingly keen on a fresh challenge away from Anfield, and will spend the rest of this season in Liverpool’s Under-23s at his own request, so he can play regular football before looking to leave at the end of the campaign.

The 22-year-old’s contract expires this summer, having [joined](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pedro_Chirivella) in 2015. If he does leave, he could join [Adam Lallana](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2020/02/08/lallana-set-to-leave-liverpool-this-summer-confirms-reliable-journalist/) and [Xherdan Shaqiri](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2020/02/27/shaqiri-expected-to-follow-lallana-out-of-liverpool-this-summer/) in heading for the Anfield exit door.

### Read Liverpool Verdict

Chirivella moving on at the end of the season makes complete sense for all parties and it will allow him to go out on something of a high.

The midfielder has shown his quality when given the chance this season, but ultimately, regular first-team opportunities are not going to come his way moving forward.

Chirivella turns 23 later this year and he is at a point where he should be playing regularly at senior level.

With the likes of Fabinho, Jordan Henderson, Gini Wijnaldum, James Milner, Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain all ahead of him in the midfield pecking order, that chance is unlikely to come at Anfield.

I think he has done enough this season to suggest he can be an asset for a top-flight club, however, combining [quality on the ball](https://www.footballfancast.com/premier-league/liverpool/liverpool-fans-compare-pedro-chirivella-to-xabi-alonso-after-everton-win) with good leadership, acting as an [influential](https://www.rousingthekop.com/2020/02/05/harry-wilson-and-liverpools-senior-stars-send-instagram-messages-to-pedro-chirivella/) teammate to his even younger colleagues in the FA Cup and Carabao Cup.
