# Concern for Man City as De Bruyne picks up injury – it could be a huge blow to their title bid

Kevin De Bruyne could miss a chunk of action with a groin injury, according to The Athletic’s Sam Lee.

Writing on [Twitter](https://twitter.com/SamLee/status/1178980400946909185?s=20), he confirmed that the Manchester City star may be sidelined for a significant spell, although the length of his absence is currently unknown:

> De Bruyne has a groin problem, but there’s no accurate diagnosis yet.

> City will be doing more tests to find out exactly what the problem is, and how serious (or not serious) it is.

De Bruyne has been an injury-plagued figure during his time in England, so this will be a concern for City.

The Belgian is arguably the Premier League’s best-attacking player on current form, registering assists for fun and generally proving a hugely influential performer.

Although City still managed superbly without De Bruyne for a chunk of last season, he would still be a big loss.

It may be that his absence is only short-term, but any spell out of the team is a boost to Liverpool’s Premier League title chances, not that injury to any player should ever be celebrated.
