# Ornstein provides worrying update on the Premier League season

There is a growing feeling that the 2019/20 Premier League season could yet be cancelled, according to [The Athletic’s](https://theathletic.com/1702521/2020/03/27/coronavirus-premier-league-null-void-abandon/?source=shared-article) David Ornstein.

Liverpool currently lead the way by 25 points, following a sensational campaign that has seen them drop only five points.

Football is currently postponed due to the spread of virus around the world, however, with no return date set.

Ornstein now claims that numerous Premier League clubs are keen to end the season ‘with immediate effect’, declaring it null and void in the process.

Fourteen of the 20 top-flight clubs would need to vote in favour of this before a chance for it to happen arises.

Call it bias, but I still think it would be ludicrous for the season to simply be voided at this point. The legal ramifications could be huge if that happens, and I find the keenness to play next season, instead of finishing this one first, bizarre.

From a Liverpool perspective, it would be a disaster, considering they have waited 30 years to seal league title glory.

It would be an extremely difficult thing to come back from if they are denied glory, especially given their lead at the top.
