# De Bruyne could miss Liverpool’s clash with Manchester City

Kevin De Bruyne is a doubt for Manchester City’s potentially season-defining clash with Liverpool, report the [https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/kevin-de-bruyne-could-miss-13791778](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/kevin-de-bruyne-could-miss-13791778)*[Mirror](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/kevin-de-bruyne-could-miss-13791778)*.

The Premier League’s top two sides do battle at the Etihad on Thursday, with the Reds currently seven points clear of their rivals.

De Bruyne is facing a “fight to be fit” for the match, however, having missed Sunday’s 3-1 win over Southampton after being up a “slight knock”.

The Belgian has suffered a disjointed campaign to date, missing six weeks with a knee injury, but he was back playing again before this latest setback.

Pep Guardiola has also confirmed that De Bruyne looks unlikely to feature:

> It’s not a big issue, but I cannot say if he will be able to play on Thursday.

Whether this is mind games remains to be seen, however, with a chance that De Bruyne could suddenly make the starting lineup from nowhere.

It promises to be a memorable evening on Thursday whatever happens, with so much riding on the fixture.

Liverpool find themselves in a position they could only have dreamed of back in August, with Jurgen Klopp’s side now odds-on favourites to win the title.

A City win would narrow the gap at the top to just four points, though, which could swing the momentum in the champions’ favour.
