# “Didn’t they have a good head start last year?” – Sigurdsson aims dig at Liverpool

Liverpool are eight points clear in the Premier League title race – a position they would have been overjoyed to be in back in August.

They are also nine points ahead of Manchester City, having beaten them 3-1 at Anfield on Sunday.

Liverpool are now the undoubted favourites to win the title this season, as that long wait for a league crown continues.

This can’t be a pleasant time for anyone of an Everton persuasion and Gylfi Sigurdsson has made a not-to-subtle dig at the Reds.

Speaking to *Fotbolti.net*, via [https://sportwitness.co.uk/everton-sigurdsson-warning-liverpool-premier-league-manchester-city/](https://sportwitness.co.uk/everton-sigurdsson-warning-liverpool-premier-league-manchester-city/)*[Sport Witness](https://sportwitness.co.uk/everton-sigurdsson-warning-liverpool-premier-league-manchester-city/)*, the midfielder admits Liverpool are the favourites, but did mention that they had a strong advantage last season, too:

> So much can happen over December and January.

> Didn’t they have a good head start last year? There is a lot of games ahead.

> Liverpool are very strong, and this was hugely compelling against City. It’s still November, so there’s plenty of time left.

> If Liverpool continue to play as they have been, it will be difficult to catch them, but City can completely get on track and win lots of games in a row.

### Read Liverpool Verdict

The entire country seems to be reeling from the fact that Liverpool are flying at the moment.

Given the likely nature of the celebrations and adulation that will take place if the Reds are crowned champions, rival supporters seem desperate for anyone else to win it.

Everton fans must be particularly worried at this point and it seems to be rubbing off on the players, if Sigurdsson’s remarks are anything to go by.

There is still a very long way to go, however, and Liverpool will have to carry on this incredible form if they are to go all the way.
