# Ederson was in “visible discomfort” as he left the San Siro

Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson was in “visible discomfort” as he left the stadium after his side’s 1-1 draw against Atalanta, as per a report from [James Robson of the Evening Standard](https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/ederson-injury-latest-man-city-keeper-hoping-to-be-fit-for-liverpool-showdown-a4280876.html).

Ederson felt an issue in his groin during the first half of the Champions League clash in Italy and as such, he was taken off at half-time. City said the substitution was precautionary but Ederson is by no means certain to play against the Reds after he was spotted limping towards the team bus after the game at the San Siro.

The Brazilian will have a scan on the injured thigh muscle on Thursday so City can assess the full extent of the injury, but the player remains hopeful of being fit for the top of the table clash against the league leaders.

Liverpool will likely prepare as if  Ederson will be starting the game on Sunday, which makes sense. However, if he is absent and Claudio Bravo has to play, that will be a boost to the Reds as he is clearly a lesser ‘keeper than Ederson.

Having said that, Liverpool won plenty of games earlier this season with their backup in goal so having Bravo between the sticks doesn’t mean City can’t win at Anfield.
