# Liverpool aren’t interested in Southampton stopper McCarthy

Liverpool are not interested in signing Southampton goalkeeper Alex McCarthy this summer, according to [Goal](https://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/liverpool-hoping-to-wrap-up-60million-nabil-fekir-deal/15y06mn8vav691o0z5gidltsa1).

It always looked likely that the Reds would look to sign a new goalkeeper this summer, but after Loris Karius’ Champions League final ordeal, the club seem more keen to push through a deal.

Among the names linked with a switch to Anfield, Southampton’s McCarthy was one of the lower profile targets.

Having displaced Fraser Forster as the Saints’ first-choice this season, McCarthy has attracted attention for a string of quality displays in the second half of the season.

However, Goal understands that McCarthy is not a target for the club.

Roma and Brazil ‘keeper Alisson looks the most likely man to replace the German currently, but Atlético Madrid number one Jan Oblak has also seen his name linked with a summer switch.
