# Mo Salah expects to be fit for Merseyside Derby

Liverpool star forward Mohamed Salah is confident he will be fit to play in the Merseyside derby against Everton on Saturday, [according to MailOnline](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-5583049/Mohamed-Salah-confident-fit-face-Everton-scan-groin-injury.html).

The Egyptian winger has had a scan on a groin injury sustained in the Champions League quarter-final first leg tie against Manchester City on Wednesday night, and was in high spirits leaving the hospital on Thursday afternoon.

The former Chelsea man was seen walking comfortably, and when asked if he would be available for Saturday’s game at Goodison Park, he replied with a thumbs up.

Earlier in the day, Salah had arrived at Melwood but he was promptly sent to have a scan at Spire Hospital to fully assess the damage to his groin.

However, it remains to be seen how big a part he will play in the game, with it possible that Reds boss Jurgen Klopp could leave him out of the derby in a bid to ensure his fitness ahead of the second leg against City on Tuesday.

Despite comprehensibly beating the Cityzens 3-0 at Anfield, Klopp will want to ensure his side aren’t complacent going into the second leg at the Etihad Stadium.

Salah has been Liverpool’s star man this season, having scored 38 goals, 29 of which have come in the Premier League.

Salah was withdrawn several minutes into the second half on Wednesday night, and fans had hoped it was merely a precaution ahead of the second leg tie. Asked about the seriousness of the injury, Klopp told BT Sport;

> I hope not. He said to me immediately after the game “all fine, all good” and we hope that’s the case. We have to wait for that.

Everton will host Liverpool in the early kick-off on Saturday, where the away side will once again be able to temporarily replace Manchester United in second place in the Premier League table with a win.
