# Four Findings: Liverpool 2-2 Newcastle United

Given the injuries, fixtures, and UEFA investigation announcement, Jurgen Klopp needed to adjust and adapt his personnel with assured adeptness.

Six changes to the lineup and an eye on Thursday’s Europa League semi-final with Villareal on Thursday, left Liverpool greeting former boss Rafa Benitez’s Newcastle United in tricky circumstances.

What started out exceptionally would ultimately end in disappointment, as Liverpool lost a two-goal lead to the relegation-threatened Magpies to draw 2-2 at Anfield.

The Reds wasted no time jumping on the visitors. Daniel Sturridge made something out of an early ball, splitting two defenders and beating the goalkeeper in the second minute to give Liverpool an early lead.

On top, the Merseysiders continued to press the opposition and create chances.

In the 30th minute, Adam Lallana would double the advantage and Liverpool looked in control and coasted into the break.

However, the half-time talk fueled a more energetic Newcastle. Plus, Liverpool seemed to have lost the plot at the start of the second half. Combined with a Simon Mignolet howler, the North East side found new life. By the 65th minute, Newcastle leveled the score with a deflected shot that deflated the home side.

Despite a strong penalty shout, when Check Tiote hacked down Sturridge, with the score level the game changed and the prospects of scoring again became increasingly hard to find.

Rafa’s side desperate to stay up managed to take a point from a Liverpool one that let it slip.

Here are four findings from the match.
