# Grabara set for spell on the sidelines following head injury

Kamil Grabara is set for a spell on the sidelines, having suffered a head injury for Huddersfield Town in midweek.

The 21-year-old collided with teammate Christopher Schindler in the Terriers’ [2-1 win at Hull City](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/51185378) on Tuesday, falling unconscious and eventually being stretchered off.

[Speaking](https://www.thisisanfield.com/2020/01/liverpool-loanee-kamil-grabara-facing-long-term-layoff-with-head-injury/) to reporters, Huddersfield manager Danny Cowley said he hopes to have Grabara available again in late February, at the earliest:

> Kamil has been discharged from hospital, which is good news. He’s much better in himself.

> We anticipate, best-case scenario, 28 days. He will see a neurosurgeon, which will give us the length of his injury.

This is a big setback for Grabara, in my opinion, with the Pole enjoying a productive season-long loan spell at Huddersfield.

The youngster has played in [28 of his side’s 29 Championship matches](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/364015/Show/Kamil-Grabara), with the Terriers sitting 19th in the table.

I believe Grabara has the potential to be a long-term understudy to Alisson at Liverpool, should that be a route he wants to take.

He was [nominated](https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/liverpool-fc-golden-boy-nominees-16601201) for *Tuttosport*‘s Golden Boy award last year – Atletico Madrid striker Joao Felix eventually [won](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/50570064) the prize – which highlights his potential.

For the time being, I think Adrian is ideal for that role, but at 33, he doesn’t represent the long-term future in the way Grabara does.

That being said, I believe regular first-team football would be more beneficial for Grabara moving forward.

He won’t be good enough to usurp Alisson any time soon, so a permanent move elsewhere could make sense, possibly to Huddersfield, or a club of that ilk.
