# Guardiola agrees with Klopp regarding congested fixture schedule

Jurgen Klopp has criticised the fixture schedule in England as an incredibly busy few months looms.

Klopp can’t understand why players are made to play so many games in such a short space of time and Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola agrees with him.

The Reds are currently contemplating forfeiting their Carabao Cup quarter-final match with Aston Villa as they’re struggling to find a suitable date for the match.

As quoted on the [Mirror](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/pep-guardiola-agrees-jurgen-klopp-20789199), Guardiola said:

> I completely agree. \[We need\] Less games. Less fixtures, less competitions, more recovery. We play December 27 and 29 in winter. It’s always the debate, in UEFA meetings they talk about it. I’m with Jurgen about it being too much.

> The players who don’t play regularly play more often \[in the Carabao Cup\] but it’s too much.

Possibly every manager in the whole country shares the same view as Klopp and Guardiola.

Playing such a high number of matches could end up proving to be harmful for many players, as they don’t get enough recovery time.

However, due to the increased investment into football by streaming services, fixtures are moved around for TV and this causes even more problems for clubs. All the governing bodies of football need to work together to solve this issue. A winter break from the Premier League may be the best solution.
