# Havertz hints at exit next summer – he would be magnificent for Liverpool

Not too many players can significantly improve this Liverpool side, but Kai Havertz would be a game-changer of a signing.

The German is one of Europe’s most highly-rated young players, with a host of top clubs thought to be monitoring his progress.

Havertz ended up staying at Bayer Leverkusen this summer, but in an interview with Sky in Germany, via the *[Liverpool Echo](https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/kai-havertz-drops-transfer-hint-16861699)*, he hinted that he will leave this time next year:

> It just didn’t happen for me this year. I think there were a number of reasons why.

> But I’m happy to be here and stay in Leverkusen for another year. We’ll see what will happens next summer.

Havertz is a truly special talent, with few emerging midfielders in the world though of more highly.

Liverpool continue to be strongly linked with the 20-year-old, highlighting their status as one of Europe’s true powerhouses.

Bayern Munich are arguably favourites to get their man, allowing Havertz to remain in Germany, but the lure of playing under Jurgen Klopp could easily sway his thinking.

If Liverpool could get a deal over the line, it would be one of the most significant pieces of business of the Klopp era.

Havertz has already made 108 appearances for Leverkusen, scoring an impressive 30 times from midfield.
