# Howe praises Henderson for his ‘unique ability to create and score goals’

Eddie Howe has singled out Jordan Henderson for special praise, claiming he has a ‘unique ability to create and score goals’, on top of his leadership skills.

Henderson is currently sidelined through injury, having picked up a [hamstring issue](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2020/02/21/jordan-henderson-ruled-three-weeks-putting-atletico-madrid-return/) against Atletico Madrid last month.

The Liverpool skipper is set to miss Saturday’s Premier League clash with Bournemouth at Anfield, as the Reds aim to return to winning ways.

Speaking to [Sky Sports](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11095/11950794/jordan-henderson-eddie-howe-praises-liverpool-captains-leadership) ahead of his side’s trip to Merseyside, Howe heaped praise on the importance of Henderson as a player:

> First and foremost I think his leadership qualities are second to none.
>
> I think you can see – and I’m only an outsider looking in – a definite passion inside of him, leadership qualities that every team needs.
>
> It’s certainly something we’ve been focusing on throughout the last couple of seasons in terms of our voice on the pitch – having leaders that can change games whether you’re losing or whether you’re winning.
>
> So I think that’s standout quality of his and I think his versatility as well, he’s played deeper, he’s played higher for Liverpool and I think they’re important qualities because he has a unique ability to create and score goals as well.

Henderson’s creativity is something that gets overlooked at times, with the 29-year-old often credited with being an industrious presence more than anything.

He was in superb attacking form before his injury layoff, however, enjoying [five goal involvements](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/68659/Show/Jordan-Henderson) – two goals, three assists – in as many appearances.

Henderson has been a huge loss through injury and the sooner he returns the better, especially with the likes of Fabinho and Gini Wijnaldum struggling for form.

He brings an impetus to the side that has been badly lacking, not only in terms of drive, but the quality on the ball that Howe has spoken of.
