# Howedes drops Liverpool hint

Schalke and Germany’s central defender Benedikt Howedes has dropped a hint suggesting that he’d be interested in a move to Liverpool following his fellow countryman Jurgen Klopp.

The 27-year old turned down moves to both Arsenal and AC Milan respectively in the not-too-distant past but has [admitted](https://www.goal.com/en/news/11/transfer-zone/2015/10/15/16341452/howedes-hints-at-interest-in-liverpool-move?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter) that a move to the Premier League does now interest him.

He told *Bild*:

> A move abroad excites me. England would for sure be an interesting destination.

The German international went on to speak of his admiration for both Jurgen Klopp, and Liverpool, which could be taken as a small hint as to his future plans:

> Currently I am with Schalke. There are no deals sorted. But of course, for a footballer there are some clubs that are more interesting than others.

> English football is very fortunate to have someone like Klopp in the league, Liverpool is a club with great tradition and values.

Liverpool fans would welcome the arrival of such an established centre-back. Dejan Lovren’s career at Anfield has not gone the way he, or anyone else, would’ve wanted following his £20m move from Southampton.

Martin Skrtel has been inconsistent at best, while Frenchman Mamadou Sakho has struggled to establish himself in the side due to persistent injuries.

Former manager Brendan Rodgers used Emre Can as part of his back three, and it will be interesting to see how Klopp uses the talented, young, German.
