# Huge boost for Liverpool as Matip returns to full training

Joel Matip has returned to full training with Liverpool, according to the *Evening Standard*‘s [David Lynch](https://twitter.com/LynchStandard/status/1184096022877949952?s=20).

The Cameroonian missed the wins over Salzburg and Leicester City, having been voted the PFA Player of the Month for September.

Liverpool may have prevailed in both matches without him, but they didn’t necessarily look as secure at the back.

He is now “in contention” to start in Sunday’s crucial trip to Manchester United, as Jurgen Klopp’s side look to make it nine wins out of nine in the Premier League.

Matip’s return is another major boost, considering the immaculate form he has been in this year.

The 28-year-old has been one of Liverpool’s star performers – it is easy to forget that he was arguably Man of the Match in the Champions League final.

With Alisson also expected to start after returning from his own injury, the Reds should be able to field their strongest back-line.
