# Illness rules Abraham out of Chelsea’s FA Cup clash with Liverpool

Tammy Abraham will miss Chelsea’s FA Cup tie against Liverpool on Tuesday evening through illness.

The striker has been injured for a chunk of this season, but he will be out with ‘a bit of a bug’ this time, according to Frank Lampard, with quotes provided by the [Daily Mail](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-8065587/Tammy-Abraham-Chelseas-FA-Cup-tie-Liverpool-Christensen-absent.html).

Liverpool head to Stamford Bridge aiming to bounce back from their damaging 3-0 defeat away to Watford on Saturday.

Jurgen Klopp has never reached the quarter-finals of the FA Cup, with the Reds searching for their first triumph in the competition since 2006.

Abraham’s absence is an undoubted boost for Liverpool, considering the season he has had at Chelsea. The striker has [15 goals and four assists](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/317506/Show/Tammy-Abraham) to his name, shining since returning from a loan spell at Aston Villa.

Klopp has [confirmed](https://twitter.com/thisisanfield/status/1234478566651224065?s=20) that he will make changes to the team that lost to Watford and it will be interesting to see who he goes with at the back, possibly up against Olivier Giroud instead of Abraham.

I think Virgil van Dijk should certainly be given the night off, and if the returning Joe Gomez isn’t deemed worthy of risking, Joel Matip and Dejan Lovren looks to be the likely pairing.

[Winning 5.1 of his 5.8 aerial duels](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/74341/Show/Joel-Matip), Matip could be the right man to try and prevent Giroud from finding the back of the net.
