# James Milner ruled out of Arsenal clash

James Milner has been ruled out of Liverpool’s game with Arsenal this weekend.

Speaking at his press conference ahead of the game, Jurgen Klopp revealed that the midfielder will not be ready to face Unai Emery’s men, but he should be back in time to face Manchester City on Thursday 3rd January.

Milner missed the Boxing Day win over Newcastle with a leg muscle injury and the Reds are giving him a long lay off to ensure that he is 100% before they put him back into the team.

Milner has been used at right-back in recent games as cover for the injured Joe Gomez and Trent Alexander-Arnold, but with Alexander-Arnold and Nathaniel Clyne fit, Milner is likely to be used in midfield when he’s available.

Liverpool still have plenty of options in midfield for the Arsenal game, with Fabinho, Jordan Henderson, Gini Wijnaldum, Naby Keita, Xherdan Shaqiri and Adam Lallana all ready to be called upon if needed.
