# Journalist expects Liverpool to make Werner approach soon

[The Athletic’s James Pearce](https://theathletic.co.uk/1642541/2020/02/28/live-qa-is-mo-salah-really-under-appreciated-by-lfc-fans-fri-28-feb-1pm-gmt/) has revealed that he expects Liverpool to make an approach for striker Timo Werner in the coming weeks.

The journalist was holding a [Q&A session](https://theathletic.co.uk/1642541/2020/02/28/live-qa-is-mo-salah-really-under-appreciated-by-lfc-fans-fri-28-feb-1pm-gmt/) when he was quizzed about the Reds’ stance on Werner, who has been heavily [linked](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11669/11938313/timo-werner-proud-to-be-linked-with-liverpool) with a move to Merseyside recently.

Pearce feels that nothing is concrete yet but Liverpool could begin negotiations soon. He wrote:

### READ LIVERPOOL VERDICT

Werner is one of Europe’s most prolific goalscorers so far this season. The German international has netted [27 times in all competitions](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/timo-werner/leistungsdaten/spieler/170527) and recently [praised Liverpool](https://twitter.com/SkySportsPL/status/1231667794904780800), calling them the best team in the world.

[Many Liverpool fans](https://twitter.com/DeluxeVegan__/status/1231686459394084865) have been expressing their excitement about his potential arrival since he made the remarks and on Friday, Jurgen Klopp [responded to his comments](https://twitter.com/DaveOCKOP/status/1233374086308519937), calling them “nice”.

The big question is where could Werner fit in at Liverpool?

With Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino, the Reds have [arguably](https://www.premstats.com/mane-salah-firmino-the-best-front-three-in-the-world/) the best front line in world football.

However, we believe that due to Firmino’s [ability](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/roberto-firmino/profil/spieler/131789) to link play, he could be dropped into an attacking midfield role with Werner leading the line if he arrives.
