# Journalist provides worrying update on Klopp’s long-term future at Anfield

Jurgen Klopp’s dynasty at Liverpool could be under threat if he decides to manage the German national team, according to the [Mirror](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/liverpool-counting-down-jurgen-klopp-21796908?_ga=2.50792553.1924918606.1585556857-127352376.1583006612)‘s Andy Dunn.

He has been sensational since taking charge at Anfield in October 2015, turning the Reds into European champions. Klopp has transformed the club both on and off the pitch, and the [hope](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/liverpool-counting-down-jurgen-klopp-21796908?_ga=2.50792553.1924918606.1585556857-127352376.1583006612) is that he will stay beyond 2024, when his current deal expires.

Dunn [claims](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/liverpool-counting-down-jurgen-klopp-21796908?_ga=2.50792553.1924918606.1585556857-127352376.1583006612) that the Germany job could potentially put paid to that, with the country’s football association keen for him to be their next manager.

### Read Liverpool Verdict

This is clearly an alarming update from a Liverpool perspective, with Klopp arguably the most influential figure at Anfield this century. Steven Gerrard is probably the only rival to the 52-year-old in that respect, considering the impact he made for the Reds on the pitch.

The hope is that Klopp builds a dynasty similar to that of Alex Ferguson at Manchester United, but leaving in 2024 could mean that is unlikely.

He would only have been in charge at Liverpool for nine years by that point, which remains a long time, but is still not close to Ferguson’s 27 years at Old Trafford, or Arsene Wenger’s 22 at Arsenal, for example.
