# Kane would be better for Liverpool than Firmino, claims Murphy

Roberto Firmino has blossomed into arguably the world’s most influential striker, becoming one of Liverpool’s most popular players of the 21st century in the process.

The Brazilian is a unique footballer who blends creativity, intelligence and work-rate to devastating effect, thriving in a world-renowned Reds attack alongside Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane.

To many, Firmino is the perfect player to be leading the line for Liverpool, but someone who seems to disagree is Danny Murphy.

[Speaking](https://www.anfieldwatch.co.uk/klopp-would-take-kane-over-firmino-danny-murphy-claim/) to *talkSPORT*, the former Reds midfielder claims Klopp would be better off with Harry Kane in the team instead:

> If Kane were to be in City or Liverpool’s team they aren’t going to be any weaker, are they? No.

> He could play instead of Aguero. And I think you would take him ahead of Firmino.

> I don’t want that to underestimate Firmino’s importance to Liverpool, but if you were Jurgen Klopp and you said you can have Kane? He’d score more goals.

This is a huge call from Murphy, who appears to have fallen into the trap of judging strikers solely on their goalscoring prowess.

If Kane was put in Liverpool’s team, there is no way the team would function in the same way.

The Tottenham striker is world-class in his own right, but he doesn’t bring teammates into play like Firmino, or possess his all-round selflessness.

He would score goals, like many top strikers would in this Liverpool side, but Firmino offers so much more and is arguably the Reds’ most important player.
