# Key Atletico Madrid duo expected to be fit for Liverpool clash

Atletico Madrid strike duo Joao Felix and Alvaro Morata are expected to be fit to face Liverpool later this month, according to report a from [AS, which has been translated by](https://as.com/futbol/2020/02/09/primera/1581285484_185417.html)[Sport Witness.](https://sportwitness.co.uk/update-atletico-madrids-squad-play-liverpool-several-players-recovery/)

The Reds head to Spain for the first leg of their Champions League last-16 clash next Tuesday evening.

There had been [doubts](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2020/01/29/joao-felix-an-injury-doubt-for-atletico-madrids-clash-with-liverpool/) surrounding Felix and Morata’s involvement due to injury, but the [report](https://as.com/futbol/2020/02/09/primera/1581285484_185417.html) states that both are in contention to play.

Diego Costa [could also be an option,](https://as.com/futbol/2020/02/09/primera/1581285484_185417.html) but with the other two fit, he may not be rushed back.

### Read Liverpool Verdict

I think this is an undoubted boost for Diego Simeone, who will have been [concerned](https://sportwitness.co.uk/diego-simeone-needing-invent-solution-liverpool-clash-brutal-blow-hits-options/) about his options against the European champions. [Felix](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/362431/Show/Jo%C3%A3o-F%C3%A9lix) and [Morata](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/91213/Show/%C3%81lvaro-Morata) do only have 14 goals between them this season, however, so they may not exactly be brimming with confidence.

Atletico have found the net just [23 times in as many La Liga matches](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/spanish-la-liga/table) in 2019/20, too, so they badly need some firepower against the Reds.

Liverpool’s issue in Madrid is unlikely to be keeping their opponents’ attack quiet, in my opinion, but trying to score an away goal. Simeone’s men remain tough to get past at the other end – they have [only conceded 15 times](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/spanish-la-liga/table) in the league this season – and I believe them keeping a clean sheet will make life awkward for the Reds at Anfield.
