# Klopp heaps praise on “exceptional” and “outstanding” Henderson

Jurgen Klopp has lauded Jordan Henderson, calling the Liverpool captain “exceptional” and “outstanding”.

The 29-year-old has been in arguably the best form of his Reds career recently, stepping up hugely in the absence of Fabinho.

Not only have Henderson’s leadership skills been on show, he has also displayed huge amounts of quality in the middle of the park.

The midfielder has spent his career as a divisive figure, though, with some rating him and others incapable of ever giving him credit.

There does seem to be more appreciation for Henderson these days and Klopp is clearly a huge admirer.

[Speaking](https://www.thisisanfield.com/2020/01/jurgen-klopp-ensures-jordan-henderson-gets-the-credit-he-deserves/) after Liverpool’s 2-0 win over Sheffield United on Thursday, the German showered his skipper with praise:

> First of all, hopefully it stays like this. Yes, he’s exceptional. Yes, he’s outstanding.

> I have to say, what Gini and Hendo \[are doing\] especially now, because they had the biggest number of games played there, it’s just incredible.

> Absolutely incredible, I don’t take that for granted for one second. If anybody who is with us doesn’t see the quality of Jordan Henderson, I can’t help him.

> Is Hendo the perfect football player? No. Do I know anybody who is? No. Is he unbelievably important for us? Yes.

If anyone still fails to see Henderson’s worth to this Liverpool team, they are clearly carrying an agenda.

He is a hugely important figure both on and off the pitch, as he looks to captain the Reds to Premier League title glory this season.

If he does that, he will forever go down as a Liverpool legend, if he isn’t one already.
