# Klopp hints at central midfield role for Minamino

Jurgen Klopp has hinted that Takumi Minamino could be used in a central midfield role for Liverpool.

The Japanese star has officially become a Reds player, having completed a move from Salzburg.

The 24-year-old was impressive in both matches against Liverpool in the Champions League, although Klopp had been an admirer long before this season.

Minamino will be eligible to make his Reds debut against Everton on Sunday, when the two Merseyside rivals meet at Anfield in the FA Cup third round.

In an interview with ESPN, via the [https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/jurgen-klopp-hints-takumi-minaminos-21189209](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/jurgen-klopp-hints-takumi-minaminos-21189209)*[Mirror](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/jurgen-klopp-hints-takumi-minaminos-21189209)*, Klopp suggested he may use him in a No.8 role, rather than his more attack-minded midfield berth:

> He is a very exciting player and it is really good that Liverpool played him so the supporters could see that he is a proper player.

> He is a player that we need and can play in all the offensive positions and can maybe play as an eight as well, we will have to see that.
