# Klopp left angry by Liverpool players’ lack of service to Minamino

Jurgen Klopp has been left angry by the lack of service given to Takumi Minamino against Chelsea.

The Japanese attacker led the line for Liverpool at Stamford Bridge, as the Reds lost 2-0 in their FA Cup fifth-round clash.

Minamino tried to make things happen, but he was ultimately starved of the ball for much of proceedings.

Speaking after the game, with [quotes provided by the Metro](https://metro.co.uk/2020/03/03/chelsea-2-0-liverpool-jurgen-klopp-frustrated-neco-williams-failed-pick-takumi-minamino-12344481/), Klopp blamed his players for not getting his new signing involved enough.

> Takumi (Minamino) had a really good game. We could have used him much more often.
>
> If Neco (Williams) sees him once or twice he was completely free at the edge \[of the box\], he shot the cross more or less. If he’d seen him it would have helped.

I felt for Minamino watching the game and there did almost seem to be a lack of trust in him from his teammates.

Perhaps this is over-analysing matters, but he found pockets of space in a ‘false nine’ role, but was rarely picked out by colleagues. When he was, he looked silky in possession, completing 83 per cent of his passes, according to [WhoScored](https://www.whoscored.com/Matches/1453401/Live/England-FA-Cup-2019-2020-Chelsea-Liverpool).

It could be argued that Liverpool’s players don’t yet trust Minamino in the way they do Roberto Firmino, for example, as he continues to adjust to life at his new club, in what was just his [third start](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/262838/Show/Takumi-Minamino).

Klopp’s system is complex and incredible fitness level are required, with the likes of Andy Robertson, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Fabinho [examples](https://www.givemesport.com/1476560-fabinhos-patient-path-to-becoming-one-of-liverpools-integral-players) of other players who took a while to settle.

Either way, Minamino had a disappointment evening, although that was far from his own doing.
