# Klopp rules out move for new goalkeeper

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has ruled out a potential swoop for a new goalkeeper, quashing [the Mirror’s report](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/liverpool-transfer-target-marc-andre-7106831) which suggested that they would bid for Barcelona’s Marc-Andre ter Stegen.

The Reds’ boss, speaking in his pre-match news conference ahead of the League Cup semi-final first leg against Stoke City, has been quoted by the Liverpool Echo as saying he is happy with Liverpool’s current ‘keepers.

Simon Mignolet kept 16 Premier League clean sheets in 2015, more than any other stopper in the division.

But the Belgian has come under scrutiny, [even from former Reds such as Bruce Grobbelaar on talkSPORT](https://talksport.com/football/liverpool-asked-me-stop-criticising-simon-mignolet-jurgen-klopp-wants-replace-him-admits), for his failure to command his penalty area and his distribution.

His deputy, Adam Bogdan, failed to capitalise on his opportunity to impress when Mignolet missed the fixture at Watford on December 20 through a hamstring injury.

The summer signing from Bolton Wanderers made a hash of a cross in the opening minutes at Vicarage Road which led to a goal, and looked nervous from then on.

Mignolet didn’t concede in the two games following his return, but he was beaten twice at Upton Park on Saturday afternoon as the Reds slumped to a 2-0 defeat by West Ham United.
