# Klopp slams social media abuse of Loris Karius

Jurgen Klopp has slammed the social media abuse currently being aimed at Loris Karius, calling the treatment of the German keeper “Crazy”.

Speaking to [ESPN FC](https://readliverpoolfc.com/%22Football%20is%20like%20it%20is,%20but%20Loris%20is%20still%20a%20really%20good%20goalkeeper,%22%20he%20said.%20%22Did%20I%20like%20what%20the%20fans%20in%20the%20preseason%20games%20did%20and%20they%20start%20kind%20of%20making%20noises%20in%20the%20moment%20when%20he%20gets%20the%20ball?%20I%20never%20understood%20people%20doing%20that,%20but%20if%20they%20think%20it%20is%20part%20of%20the%20game,%20yeah,%20then%20do%20it.%20%22It%20still%20doesn%27t%20say%20anything%20about%20you%20as%20a%20goalkeeper%20--%20it%27s%20a%20preseason%20game%20and%20all%20the%20players%20on%20the%20pitch%20made%20mistakes.%22), Klopp slammed the treatment of Karius, who is still receiving abuse after his performance in the Champions League Final last May.

The German keeper took to Instagram to address the abuse given to him after his mistakes in the final last May, shedding the light on the “anger and hate” directed at him.

However, Klopp recently spoke out about the abuse Karius has received, along with the abuse Mesut Ozil has received that led to his retirement from international football.

> “Look, I think my smartest decision in life was not to use social media, I don’t read it if people criticize me on social media. They can write whatever they want and it never would faze me because I don’t know it. I don’t read it, so I don’t feel it

Klopp added:

> Football is like it is, but Loris is still a really good goalkeeper, Did I like what the fans in the preseason games did and they start kind of making noises in the moment when he gets the ball? I never understood people doing that, but if they think it is part of the game, yeah, then do it.

> It still doesn’t say anything about you as a goalkeeper — it’s a preseason game and all the players on the pitch made mistakes.
