# Klopp’s stance on Keita revealed amid Anfield exit rumours

Naby Keita remains part of Jurgen Klopp’s plans moving forward, according to the [Evening Standard’s](https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/liverpool-transfers-timo-werner-premier-league-title-latest-questions-david-lynch-a4393706.html) David Lynch.

The Guinean is yet to reach the heights expected of him when he [signed](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/41075272) from RB Leipzig in 2017 – he didn’t move until 2018 – with [injuries](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/naby-keita/verletzungen/spieler/302215) often affecting his progress.

Despite some fans [suggesting](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2020/03/13/these-liverpool-fans-want-to-see-shock-summer-exit-for-keita/) Keita should even be sold this summer, Lynch has provided a different take on the matter.

Speaking in a [Q&A](https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/liverpool-transfers-timo-werner-premier-league-title-latest-questions-david-lynch-a4393706.html) on Monday, he confirmed that the 25-year-old still has Klopp’s faith.

> His (Klopp’s) faith in Naby Keita remains unshaken despite the succession of minor injuries that have slowed his progress.

### Read Liverpool Verdict

I think getting rid of Keita this summer could be far too knee-jerk, even though frustration is understandable from supporters. Liverpool have not seen the very best of him, but his divisive nature still seems a little unfair, in my opinion.

Of the Reds’ midfielders, only Jordan Henderson (1.0) has averaged [more key passes](https://www.whoscored.com/Teams/26/Show/England-Liverpool) in the Premier League this season than Keita (0.9), while he also averages the [third-most tackles](https://www.whoscored.com/Teams/26/Show/England-Liverpool) per match (1.8), behind Henderson (2.2) and Fabinho (2.1).

If Keita can rid himself of injury problems and get a proper run in the side, I see no reason why he can’t excel for Liverpool over time given the huge money he was [signed](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/41075272) for. It may just be that fans have to expect a more subtly effective player, rather than a rampaging, match-winning one.
