# Lambert should take the right deal

The Liverpool striker has worked his way up through the Football League in a remarkable rags to riches story which began 13 years ago after he was released by Blackpool having failed to impress during a two-year apprenticeship.

Rickie Lambert moved to the Reds in the summer transfer window for £4.5m, it wasn’t really about the money for Lambert, it was his dream to become an official Livepool player after growing up in Merseyside before moving to Southampton in his teenage years.

Since then, the 32-year-old striker has really failed to cement a spot in the starting team, netting just 1 goal in 16 appearances for the club.

It has also been reported by the Mirror and Liverpool Echo that Crystal Palace and West Bromwich Albion are after the England International.

Albion have asked about Rickie Lambert but Liverpool will not loan him out, and would only sell for the money they paid Southampton in the summer.

Rumours around Liverpool are suggesting that Rickie Lambert is not open to a move away from the Reds but he may have fallen way behind the pecking order.

I admire Rickie Lambert. He gives his all. One of them players that puts his heart in to every minute of the match but let’s face it, is he really the standard of striker Liverpool needs?

In my opinion he’s a squad player at Liverpool at most and with Borini, Balotelli, Sturridge and Sterling, it would make sense for him to move to a smaller club for him to re-ignite his goal scoring form.

Last season we saw him score 13 goals in the campaign, not bad for a 31-year-old. You feel a move to Crystal Palace or West Bromwich Albion could do him the world of good with the limited amount of game time he is receiving at Liverpool.

Divock Origi is another striker who Liverpool are due back. He was of course loaned out to Lille for the season but may be on his way back to Liverpool this month as Brendan Rodgers tries to cut his loan spell short. It’s fair to say that even Origi would be ahead of Lambert in the pecking order.
