# Leicester lead the race to sign Lallana this summer

Leicester City are leading a four-way battle to sign Adam Lallana this summer, according to the [Telegraph](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2020/02/06/adam-lallana-line-forbrendan-rodgers-reunion-afterleicester/).

The report states that the 31-year-old is expected to leave Liverpool at the end of the season, after [six years](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/27647888) at the club.

Former Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is [reportedly](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2020/02/06/adam-lallana-line-forbrendan-rodgers-reunion-afterleicester/) keen on acquiring Lallana’s signature and the Foxes are thought to be favourites to get their man.

Tottenham, Arsenal and West Ham are also [mentioned](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2020/02/06/adam-lallana-line-forbrendan-rodgers-reunion-afterleicester/) as potential suitors for the midfielder.

### Read Liverpool Verdict

I think moving Lallana on this summer makes complete sense for Liverpool. The Englishman is believed to be among the [highest paid](https://www.spotrac.com/epl/liverpool-f.c/payroll/) players at the club, but is far from a key man these days, so him leaving could free-up money for new signings.

He has only made [seven starts](https://www.lfchistory.net/Players/Player/GamesPerSeason/1273-129) this season, in all competitions, and at 31, he is the second-oldest outfield player in the squad.

Replacing Lallana with a younger, less [injury-prone](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/adam-lallana/verletzungen/spieler/43530) figure makes perfect sense, in my opinion, even though Jurgen Klopp has hailed him for being a [leader](https://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/fa-league-cups/liverpool-vs-everton-fa-cup-adam-lallana-curtis-jones-jurgen-klopp-latest-news-a9271501.html) in the dressing room.

I believe his time at Liverpool has been hit-and-miss, with an excellent run of form in 2016/17 not repeated often enough, when he [scored eight goals and registered seven assists](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/21683/History/Adam-Lallana) in the Premier League.

Lallana has only [scored once](https://www.lfchistory.net/Players/Player/Profile/1273) in the league since May 2017 – the equaliser at Manchester United earlier this season – highlighting both a lack of substance in the final third and long absences through injury.
