# Liverpool are “aware” of me, claims Rangers star Morelos

Alfredo Morelos claims Liverpool are “aware” of him, hinting at a possible move to Anfield in the future.

The Colombian has shone for Rangers since joining from HJK Helsinki in 2017, scoring [76 goals in 128 appearances](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alfredo_Morelos#Career_statistics) for the Scottish giants.

He has found the net [28 times in all competitions this season](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alfredo_Morelos), including 12 in the Scottish Premiership.

Morelos hasn’t been without his disciplinary problems, however, being [sent-off seven times](https://www.givemesport.com/1533536-alfredo-morelos-sent-off-for-ridiculous-dive-in-last-minute-of-celtic-12-rangers) for Rangers.

Speaking to *Caracol Radio*, with quotes provided by the *[Liverpool Echo](https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/liverpool-among-clubs-aware-me-17690855)*, the 23-year-old talked up the possibility of joining the Reds, partly due to manager Steven Gerrard’s influence:

> I think they are aware (of me). I imagine that is the case with the coach we have, who played for Liverpool for so long.

> I imagine he has friends and directors who come to the games, as well as scouts from other teams. It’s a motivation to keep doing well.

> In the short-term I’m with Rangers.

### Read Liverpool Verdict

I wouldn’t go near the signing of Morelos, regardless of how prolific he is in front of goal.

The Rangers star is simply too unpredictable as a character, in my opinion, as highlighted by his aforementioned disciplinary record.

Jurgen Klopp has assembled a group of players with a great team spirit, with each individual seemingly pulling in the same direction, helping them win the Champions League and Club World Cup, and also lie on the cusp of Premier League glory.

There seems to be no negative stories making the headlines, with on-pitch matters the primary focus.

Morelos would upset the harmony, in my opinion, mainly in terms of his unpredictable temper during matches.

I feel he is riled too easily by opponents, most notably [Celtic captain Scott Brown](https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/alfredo-morelos-laughed-scott-brown-14212907), and he even received his marching orders for a [dive](https://www.givemesport.com/1533536-alfredo-morelos-sent-off-for-ridiculous-dive-in-last-minute-of-celtic-12-rangers) against the Hoops this season, prior to making a [throat-slitting gesture](https://metro.co.uk/2019/12/29/alfredo-morelos-throat-slitting-rangers-celtic-old-firm-11972641/) to the home supporters.

Last season, Gerrard [admitted](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/47767051) he couldn’t defend the striker anymore, following another sending off at Celtic.
