# Liverpool can’t recall Markovic in January

**UPDATE 21/10/2015 – 11:40am**

Despite reports to the contrary, which we used to write our original story. It appears that James Pearce of the Liverpool Echo was incorrect with his original story, and Liverpool CAN NOT recall Lazar Markovic in January. This was confirmed on Twitter by Paul Joyce of The Express, and Tony Barrett of The Times:

> Lazar Markovic cannot be recalled by Liverpool from loan at Fenerbahce in January. Loan is for season.

> Liverpool do not have an option to recall Lazar Markovic early from his season long loan to Fenerbahce.

Markovic has told Portuguese newspaper A Bola that he didn’t have a good relationship with former Reds manager Brendan Rodgers.

“I didn’t have a good relationship with the coach,” [Markovic said](https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/lazar-markovic-hits-out-brendan-10303682). “That was a problem.

“I played in many positions but didn’t play in mine.”

**ORIGINAL STORY**

Liverpool winger Lazar Markovic, who is currently on loan at Turkish club Fenerbahce, could be recalled to Anfield in the new year if manager Jurgen Klopp wishes to bring him back.

[James Pearce of the Liverpool Echo](https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/liverpool-fc-boss-klopp-considering-10298567) reports that the terms of the Serbian’s temporary switch allow the Reds to cut the deal short in January.

Furthermore, Pearce reports that Fenerbahce are paying 100% of Markovic’s wages and that they do not have the option to make the deal permanent.

Markovic was allowed to leave on loan by former manager Brendan Rodgers, but with the Northern Irishman no longer in charge at Liverpool, he could well be recalled if Klopp decides that he wants him as part of his squad.

Liverpool insist that they only sent the 21-year-old to Turkey to allow him to get regular playing time and that it was never their intention to sell him.

The Anfield club have lost one attacking option; Danny Ings, for the season, which may lead to Klopp deciding to recall Markovic.
