# Liverpool captain doesn’t blame injuries for drop in form

Current Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson has admitted that his on/off battle with injuries isn’t the reason for his recent halt in form.

He has insisted that it would be wrong of him to use that as a scapegoat and that he must face up to any criticism.

In an interview with [Liverpool Echo](https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/henderson-know-liverpool-fc-captaincy-10953423), he said: “You can’t use it as an excuse,” before stating: “You can’t pick and choose can you? Sometimes I’ve played well with the problem, sometimes I haven’t. I can’t just use it as an excuse for the times I’ve not played so well.”

When questioned on some fans calling out the former Sunderland player on his unbalanced form, he said: “I have just been a bit inconsistent in my performances when I have played. That happens in football, especially when you have been out for a long period.”

The midfielder missed two months of the current season after limping off during a 1-0 victory over Bournemouth back in August.

When he returned, Liverpool were winning against 1-0 in a similar game against Swansea City.

Although Henderson was back, his form was up and down with no sign of the number 14 settling back into his natural role.

On this matter, he told the Liverpool Echo that: “I need to keep improving, keep working hard and I know eventually I will find my rhythm and get back to the way I was before I got injured.”
