# Liverpool dealt blow as Mbappe is again linked with Real Madrid move

Real Madrid have again been tipped to make a move for Kylian Mbappe, acting as a blow to Liverpool.

According to [Marca](https://www.marca.com/en/football/real-madrid/2020/03/24/5e766ae2268e3e4c4e8b4625.html), via the [Express](https://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/1259887/Real-Madrid-Liverpool-transfer-blow-Kylian-Mbappe), the La Liga giants are preparing to launch a big-money bid for the Frenchman next summer.

Liverpool have been [linked](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2020/02/13/liverpool-one-of-four-clubs-to-make-offer-for-mbappe/) with Mbappe this season, with the Reds viewed as a potential suitor for the 21-year-old.

It appears as though Madrid are in pole position, however, ahead of what could be a world-record switch.

### Read Liverpool Verdict

While the idea of missing out on Mbappe is a blow, I’m not convinced he has ever been a realistic target for Liverpool. The Paris Saint-Germain superstar is valued at a whopping £180 million by [transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/kylian-mbappe/profil/spieler/342229) and he could cost even more than that, not to mention also having extortionate wages.

Someone like Timo Werner feels like he could be a far more logical signing, in my opinion, with the German [hinting](https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/timo-werner-liverpool-transfer-news-best-in-world-a4366671.html) at a possible move to join Liverpool, with a [rumoured](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2020/02/26/liverpool-offer-timo-werner-five-year-e8m-per-season-contract/) release clause of just £48.7 million.

He could cost a quarter of the amount of Mbappe, and while he arguably doesn’t have the incredible potential of the France international – some have him down as a [future Ballon d’Or winner](https://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/neymar-and-mbappe-are-future-ballon-dor-winners-buffon/df3bz96wp8sz1m5irlnu9n8m7) – he would be a much cheaper option for Jurgen Klopp.
