# Liverpool discover how much Coutinho would cost this summer

Barcelona will reportedly demand around €80 million for the services of Philippe Coutinho this summer, according to the [Evening Standard](https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/philippe-coutinho-barcelona-transfer-news-a4406336.html).

The 27-year-old has failed to fire at the Nou Camp since joining from Liverpool in January 2018.

He is currently at Bayern Munich on loan, but Barca [want](https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/philippe-coutinho-barcelona-transfer-news-a4406336.html) to get rid of him before the start of next season and are lowering their asking price.

Liverpool have been [linked](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2020/03/14/liverpool-urged-to-re-sign-coutinho-this-summer-2/) with a sensational move to bring Coutinho back to Anfield recently.

### Read Liverpool Verdict

I would be very surprised if Jurgen Klopp decided to go back in for Coutinho, especially given the Brazilian’s struggles in recent years. There is an argument to say that he simply isn’t the same player who left Liverpool, judging by his lack of impact at both Barca and Bayern, where he has only managed [53 league starts combined](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/80767/History/Philippe-Coutinho) over the past three seasons.

Now approaching 28, Coutinho also doesn’t represent a long-term prospect, meaning the Reds could have to spend big and risk him being a relatively short-term fix.

The Brazilian remains an excellent player on his day, but Liverpool have moved on without him, with young options needing to be targeted, such as [Kai Havertz](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2020/01/15/liverpool-reportedly-readying-huge-offer-for-havertz/), for example, if the club want to start thinking about the future.

Havertz averages [2.3 key passes per game](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/326413/Show/Kai-Havertz) in the Bundesliga this season, compared to [1.4](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/80767/Show/Philippe-Coutinho) for Coutinho. He also outshines him in terms of dribbles  ([2.3](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/326413/Show/Kai-Havertz) to [1.5](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/80767/Show/Philippe-Coutinho)) and pass completion rate ([87.1%](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/326413/Show/Kai-Havertz)to [84%](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/80767/Show/Philippe-Coutinho)).
