# Liverpool fans are delighted after Simon Hughes’ update on 2019/20 season

A number of Liverpool supporters have been left happy and relieved after the latest update regarding the completion of the 2019/20 season.

According to [The Athletic](https://theathletic.com/1724322/?source=twitteruk&redirected=1)‘s Simon Hughes, FIFA are set to confirm an indefinite extension to the campaign, allowing countries to complete their leagues by a chosen date.

The Premier League is currently postponed due to the outbreak of illness, with the action not returning until May at the very earliest.

It leaves Liverpool’s title party on hold for the time being, with Jurgen Klopp’s men 25 points clear of Manchester City, and on the verge of a first league crown since 1990.

Despite fears that the Reds could miss out on the title completely, should the season be [voided](https://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/premier-league/rio-ferdinand-liverpool-coronavirus-premier-league-title-cancelled-suspended-a9420966.html), this update will be seen as a positive from those of a Liverpool persuasion, suggesting they will win it at some point in the coming months.

These Reds fans took to Twitter to provide their thoughts on Hughes’ update, with positivity in the air.

> Had to be the case. How can you void a season not knowing if you can actually start the new one . . and what would be the point ??
