Some Liverpool supporters are desperate to see Gini Wijnaldum sign a new contract at Anfield.

The Dutchman again outlined his importance to the Reds on Wednesday night, scoring the opener in his side’s 3-2 defeat to Atletico Madrid.

There is concern that Wijnaldum is yet to sign a new deal with Liverpool, with his current contract expiring in the summer of 2021.

The 29-year-old has been [coy](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-7937431/Liverpool-star-Georginio-Wijnaldum-remains-coy-Anfield-future.html) about his future, refusing to commit to the Reds just yet.
