# Liverpool fans are left baffled amid claims Rashford would start for Reds

Liverpool take on Manchester United on Sunday, in another huge Premier League game.

The Reds will be favourites to get the better of their rivals, given their [14-point lead](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/premier-league/table) at the top of the table.

Marcus Rashford has been United’s key man this season, scoring [14 league goals in 22 appearances](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/300299/Show/Marcus-Rashford).

[*Evening Standard* journalist James Robson](https://twitter.com/jamesrobsonES) has gone as far as to say that Rashford would get into Liverpool’s starting lineup, ousting one of their much-famed front-three in the process:

> Rashford has scored more than any Liverpool player this season – & in a struggling United team. \
> For me, he breaks up Mane, Salah & Firmino. He has to play on the left, so rearrange the other two as you wish. [#mufc](https://twitter.com/hashtag/mufc?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw)[https://t.co/jVnfeN875V](https://t.co/jVnfeN875V)

These Liverpool supporters were left baffled on Twitter, reacting to the claims with plenty of mocking.

### Read Liverpool Verdict

I think this is a quite staggering opinion, despite Rashford’s obvious qualities as a footballer.

The 22-year-old has been impressive this season, but he is still not close to being a world-class footballer, in my opinion.

He doesn’t possess the all-round game to merit being in that bracket, with his decision-making too often erratic, as well as his shooting.

On the flip side, Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino are, in our eyes, among the elite players in the world in their position, also shining in tandem, scoring a [combined 198 goals](https://www.lfchistory.net/SeasonArchive/Goalscorers/127) alongside one another.

I believe this article is simply judging Rashord by goals, because he has scored more than the Reds trio in 2019/20.

Over time, the United star could mature into a world-class player, but for the time being, he is most definitely a step down.
