# Liverpool fans are positive about Premier League hopes after latest decision

Some Liverpool supporters are feeling positive after the Belgian First Division A was cancelled, rather than voided.

Club Brugge have immediately been named champions after the decision, with the current league table providing the final results. Incidentally, that means a league winners’ medal for Simon Mignolet.

What is important is the fact that the season hasn’t been completely voided, as journalist Rory Smith has pointed out on [Twitter](https://twitter.com/RorySmith/status/1245674621724221440?s=20):

> Where it may be more significant for everyone else is that they're not annulling, which I suspect is because Uefa has kind of hinted that countries that void may not be able to have CL/EL representation next season if other countries do resolve the season.

The reason this is so important is that Brugge would not have been crowned champions in that scenario – something that has been troubling Liverpool supporters of late.

The resumption of the current Premier League campaign remains up in the air, following the outbreak of virus-related illness. Jurgen Klopp’s men lead the way with a 25-point lead, and were almost certain to top the pile before the season was disrupted.

The general consensus is that it will be completed at some point, possibly behind closed doors, but if English football does end up going the same way as the Belgian league, it could mean Liverpool still clinch glory.

These Reds fans have been reacting to the news on Twitter, with some expressing their relief at it.

> This is very big – crucial that Belgium cancelled the season and didn't annul – due to UEFA ruling… We don't know how it'll finish, but almost impossible now for this PL season to be voided 👊 [https://t.co/WmluVQZVCn](https://t.co/WmluVQZVCn)
