### Read Liverpool Verdict

Mane thoroughly deserved to win African Player of the Year over Mohamed Salah and Riyad Mahrez.

While both were excellent in their own right last year, Mane had the biggest influence, [finishing fourth](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11669/11878707/lionel-messi-says-sadio-mane-finishing-fourth-in-ballon-dor-is-a-shame) in Ballon d’Or vote behind Lionel Messi, Virgil van Dijk and Cristiano Ronaldo.

There is a drive and determination about him that suggests he is hellbent on winning the Premier League title this season and he has dragged Liverpool through some games.

A late winner at [Aston Villa](https://www.theguardian.com/football/2019/nov/02/aston-villa-liverpool-premier-league-match-report) stands out, when he nervelessly headed home in stoppage time, but he has also scored vital efforts against the likes of Manchester City, Crystal Palace and Wolves.

On current form, we feel as if Lionel Messi is better than him right now.
