# Liverpool fans laugh off rumours linking Van Dijk with move to Spain

Virgil van Dijk has been linked with a move to Real Madrid or Barcelona next summer.

Spanish publication *[AS](https://as.com/futbol/2019/09/15/internacional/1568519718_836245.html)* claim the Liga heavyweights will battle it out for the Liverpool superstar, as they look to bolster their respective back-lines.

Van Dijk has spoken of his happiness at Anfield, however, and is unlikely to be enticed by a move away any time soon.

These Liverpool supporters have mocked the reports on Twitter, claiming the Reds are a superior team to represent currently.

> In their current state? Lol. Pull the other one. There’s only one team on this planet that is marginally better than us & they play in the same league as us so I wouldn’t be worried about the Spanish lot.

> He really doesn't need to leave Liverpool to fulfil any of his ambitions though, does he…

### Read Liverpool Verdict

In the past, Liverpool fans may understandably have been called delusional for claiming a key man wouldn’t want to join Real Madrid or Barca.

The Reds are now a completely different animal under Jurgen Klopp, however, having the won the Champions League last season and continuing to battle Manchester City for Premier League glory.

To put it bluntly, they are better than either Spanish club.

Huge wages are the only thing that they could offer over Liverpool, but Van Dijk doesn’t appear to be a financially-motivated player.

He seems more than happy at Anfield – why wouldn’t he be? – and will likely continue to cement his place as a club legend in the coming years.
