# Liverpool fans mock Man City’s use of influencers to promote Etihad atmosphere

Manchester City don’t help themselves, do they?

The reigning Premier League champions are often criticised for having a rather hollow existence ever since their financial situation improved earlier this century.

They were once the plucky underdogs who often experienced heartbreak – everyone’s favourite second team, in many ways – but they are now an all-conquering force who feel like a different club.

The Etihad has often been mocked for its lack of atmosphere, and in a remarkable turn of events, it has been [revealed](https://www.prweek.com/article/1663345/man-city-calls-influencers-build-hype-champions-league-home-games) that City are actually looking for influencers to “get across the great atmosphere of the Etihad” via posts online.

These Liverpool supporters were left stunned by the revelation on Twitter.

### Read Liverpool Verdict

It is damning that City should have to go to such lengths to make the Etihad look good, but it sums up the current state of the club.

They are a wonderful football team, led by one of the world’s best managers, but they have clearly lost some of their identity.
