# Liverpool fans pleased with referee appointment for crucial Leicester clash

Michael Oliver will [referee](https://twitter.com/TheKopiteOFF/status/1206882605330829312?s=20) Liverpool’s Premier League clash with Leicester City on Boxing Day.

The Reds will head to the King Power Stadium with a game in hand on the Foxes, following their Club World Cup excursions this week.

By the time the game starts, Liverpool will either be 10, nine or seven points clear at the top of the table, depending on how Leicester fare at Manchester City on Saturday evening.

Oliver will take charge of arguably the biggest match of the season to date, and one of the Reds’ toughest assignments.

These Liverpool supporters have been reacting positively to the news on Twitter.

### Read Liverpool Verdict

This is the best possible appointment for the game, with Oliver the standout referee in the country.

The 34-year-old is a consistent performer, unlike a number of others in his role, often controlling matters impressively.

Jurgen Klopp couldn’t have asked for a better person to be in charge of such a key match.
