# Liverpool first-team squad ‘suspend activity at Melwood’

Liverpool’s first-team squad and staff have voluntarily decided to temporarily suspend activity at Melwood, the club [confirmed](https://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/first-team/390427-reds-to-voluntarily-suspend-melwood-activity) on Friday.

The Reds’ wait to win the Premier League title will now be delayed, following the announcement that English football matches have been [postponed](https://www.thisisanfield.com/2020/03/confirmed-premier-league-suspend-season-due-to-coronavirus/) until April 4th.

That’s due to the current outbreak in the UK, meaning Liverpool’s next game is scheduled to be away to Manchester City on April 5th.

Jurgen Klopp’s side [can win the title with a victory at the Etihad](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2020/03/13/liverpool-can-now-win-the-premier-league-title-in-their-next-game/), with three points taking them out of sight of Manchester City.

For now, though, Klopp and his players have decided to alleviate the risk, training away from Melwood and being given individual programmes to work on, in order to stay fit.

Training took place as normal on Friday, but plans will now change with immediate effect.

Liverpool need six more points to clinch the title – let’s hope that can be achieved sooner rather than later.
