The 32-year-old picked up a hamstring injury in City’s 1-1 draw at West Ham last weekend, leaving the pitch at half-time and not returning for the second half.

Aguero is set to be out of action for around a month, potentially acting as a boost to Liverpool.

The Premier League champions take on their title rivals in a crucial game at the Etihad [on November 8th](https://www.skysports.com/liverpool-fixtures) – one that could end up having a major bearing on who takes home the prize come May.

There is no denying that Aguero’s likely absence for the game is a major positive for Jurgen Klopp and his side, given the Argentine’s legacy in English football.

Not only is the striker a [world-class player](https://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/aguero-only-world-class-premier-league-striker-henry-man/q9j8v30yw98c18zco366ipx5b) when fit and firing, but he has been the scourge of Liverpool on so many occasions down the years.

Aguero has [scored seven times](https://www.transfermarkt.com/sergio-aguero/bilanzdetails/spieler/26399/gegner/31) against the Reds at the Etihad, highlighting how he comes alive in the fixture.

A [big-game player](https://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/man-city-sergio-aguero-guardiola-15805255) with a strong mentality, Liverpool will feel they have an immediate advantage without Aguero around.

That being said, Virgil van Dijk’s [absence](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2020/10/18/van-dijk-ruled-out-for-months-with-cruciate-ligament-injury/) does even things up somewhat.
