# Liverpool interested in making shock move for Aubameyang

Liverpool have reportedly expressed an interest in completing a surprise move for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang this summer, according to [90min](https://www.90min.com/posts/6579493-exclusive-chelsea-join-running-to-sign-arsenal-s-pierre-emerick-aubameyang?utm_source=RSS).

The Arsenal striker could leave the Emirates at the end of the season, with a host of top clubs monitoring his situation.

Chelsea and Barcelona are also mentioned as potential suitors for the 30-year-old, who has scored [61 goals in just 96 appearances](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pierre-Emerick_Aubameyang#Career_statistics) for Arsenal.

Jurgen Klopp is believed to think highly of the Gabon superstar, following their time together at Borussia Dortmund.

While there is no denying Aubameyang’s status as a world-class striker – his numbers speak for themselves. Gary Neville [recently lauded](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/30965/11942019/gary-neville-pierre-emerick-aubameyang-is-world-class) him as a player in the same calibre as the likes of Sergio Aguero and Roberto Firmino, but even then, I would be surprised if Klopp made a move for him this summer.

He turns 31 in June and could demand huge wages, both of which might not be considered a good combination by Klopp and sporting director Michael Edwards.

Chances are, Aubameyang could be a short-term fix, and it may also be hard to guarantee him regular starts with Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino working so well as a unit.

On top of that, Liverpool’s interest in Timo Werner continues to look [strong](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2020/03/04/werner-really-wants-liverpool-move/) and I don’t see the need to bring in Aubameyang as well as the German this summer.
