# Liverpool linked with French goalkeeper

According to [TalkSport](https://talksport.com/football/everton-and-liverpool-both-keen-wantaway-marseille-goalkeeper-steve-mandanda-151221178564), Liverpool are one of several Premier League sides eyeing up French shot-stopper Steve Mandanda.

Mandanda’s contract expires at the end of the current season and he is more than expected to move on from Marseille, where he has been since 2007. The French international has featured in over 300 Ligue 1 matches for Marseille and has earned a fierce reputation as one of the best ‘keepers in the division.

Everton and Newcastle have also been touted with moves for Mandanda as they look to improve on their current goalkeeping situations in the January window.

Marseille could be tempted to cash in on the goalkeeper instead of losing him for free in the summer.

Simon Mignolet is currently the club’s first-choice ‘keeper but has had more than his fair share of critics since joining Liverpool and, if these reports are to be believed, it looks as though Jurgen Klopp is ready to go out and replace the Belgian with the 30-year-old Frenchman who has 21 caps for his country.
